A song
Today I fell in love with a song. This is one resonates with me like very few songs did before. It brings me the inner peace I feel when watching the Pacific Ocean or the Space Shuttle taking-off.
That song is "The Departure" from Michael Nyman (the Gattaca sountrack version).

Out Domenech!!!
That was pathetic! As much as I don't like seeing Italy win against us, we certainly didn't deserve to reach the quarter finals. We have amazing players but they just couldn't play together. This team had absolutely no spirit and the coaching choices were terrible. I think it's time for Domenech to leave, seriously.
On a good note though, nobody received a headbutt from us this time :)

I realize that it has been a few weeks without real news. So let' start with I'M ON VACATION IN 3 WEEKS and I'm so freaking excited about it! The truth is, I need a break, a real one, not just 2 or 3 days, but rather 2 or 3 weeks. I haven't taken some real time off since Xmas and I feel it. The most little thing I have to accomplish takes an eternity or feels like climbing Everest.
I spent the last few weeks working on my t****s and went to present some work at a conference in D.C. I drove the 650 miles from ATL to D.C and back and just getting out of ATL felt awesome. I was probably the most excited person behind the wheel at 6am on that Saturday morning :)
I stayed a bit longer after the conference to visit Washington and see a friend I didn't see in 2 years. So now obviously I'm back, trying to finish up another paper for a conference in September and after that I'M GONE!
I have loads and loads of photos to upload or just even look at. But I know I have some pretty good ones :)
As for the relationship side (since that topic has popped up quite often recently), let's say that I don't really know where I'm at or where I stand. I've tried not to think too much about it, but I do miss the comfort of a real, steady and trusty relationship. You know the all "coming home and relax with a loved one" thing. Not quite there yet :)
To finish, I'm leaving you with the Lincoln Memorial. Enjoy :)

High Dynamic Range Photography
I heard about HDR some time ago but never had the time to experience with it. HDR enables you to create photos with more details using 1 or 3 RAW pictures having different exposures. I found very good tutorials, especially there:
HDR Tutorial: How to create ‘High Dynamic Range’ images using Photomatix
HDR Tutorial - New and Improved for 2008!
How to Create Professional HDR Images
As far as softwares are concerned, there is always the good old Photoshop CS though the version I have (CS2) doesn't recognize the RAW format of my 40D, so I had to go a different route. I went for Photomatix Pro, which does a very good job for a reasonable price. I also downloaded the trial version of Adobe Lightroom and was happily surprised. It's simple to use yet pretty powerful.
Anyway, here is my first attempt at it. I shot that one at home so I wasn't expecting anything spectacular. But I'm planning on shooting the Atlanta skyline next monday and hopefully I'll have cooler photos to show.
