Busy...

The next coming days are going to be crazy busy as my advisor is leaving again soon. I'm trying to find some time to start writing my report as well. Other than that I'm flying to Atlanta on the 6th to look for a place to live there. Classes start in less than 2 months...
Last night my roomates and I went to listen to some kind of New Age music in a parc on campus. I thought I would put some pics of the crew I'm living with ;)

Graduation week-end

It was last week-end and it was one of the most wonderful times of my life. It was so good to see everybody again. We spent saturday on the coast as one of my advisors invited us to his place for a BBQ. Seeing the Pacific again was great. There is definitely something between me and this ocean... We walked the beach, enjoyed a few drinks, listened to Beattles' songs... And we ended the day on a wooden deck, in front of a fire, drinking Bourbon, stargazing, and laughing.

Sunday was graduation day. It started with a brunch at the College of Forestry and it was great to see Dave and the girls there. At 1pm we rushed to the line-up for the Commencement ceremony. I succeeded in having Max attending the ceremony and I'm pretty proud of myself on that one! The keynote speaker was actually really bad but I didn't really care. In substance his message was: "The planet is screwed, this is your parents' fault and there is nothing you can do about it. Go hang yourself" Not quite the message of hope and optimism you expect to hear during such a ceremony ;) Other than that, they screwed on the diploma piles, which was pretty funny. We got the diplomas of the people sitting on the other side of the aisle. So for 15 minutes I was a graduate with a Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies... Really scary! Then we met sunday evening at McMenamins for some more good time and beer.

I spent monday emptying my storage unit (thanx Max!) and packing. It was hard to see all my pieces of furniture going away... But I took the most treasured things and memories with me and I'll have them with me wherever I go. It's anchored deep inside of me. There are wonderful people on this planet and I found some of them in Oregon. I was home, surrounded by friends and it was a tremendous feeling. I really feel like I have a family there. My only regret was not to have my Mom and Dad with me on that week-end but they both promised they'll be attending my next Commencement ceremony in 4 years (if I make it!)... So it was really tough to leave Oregon again but I know I'll come back. I left pieces of me there...

The pics are here.

I'm going home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my... I have been waiting for that week-end for so long...

Thursday, June 15

So true, except that mine is definitely real...

Sunday, June 11

A week till graduation...

... And I'm already like a kid in a candy store! Besides the fact that I'm counting the days and hours between now and friday, I have been pretty busy this week-end watching Hockey (yes, I know it sounds weird even to me...), Tennis, Formula 1 and Soccer of course ;) But the big game is on Tuesday: France vs Switzerland...
Work is still going great so far. I'm spending my 60 hours a week coding and learning tons about asteroids. A bit of frustration sometimes, but it's probably nothing compared to what the guy who put this next to his door experiences ;)

So life is good and in 6 days I'll be with friends enjoying some southern BBQ on the coast and some diving with Max.

So far so good

Two good news this week:
- I'm going to be paid for my internship, which is definitely great
- I finally received my second "Priority" parcel (3 weeks to travel from Strasbourg to AA...) I won't make additional comments ;)

Other than that, I'm really busy here but still having a great time. Also OSU graduation is in 10 days and I can't wait to be back in Oregon! I have been waiting for that day for so long...

ok bedtime here... I'm so damn tired... sorry this is short...

A night of T-storms...

There is nothing like being in your bed, comfortably wound in your blankets, with the window open, listening to some jazzy music, with the rain falling outside and the thunder booming...

Another parcel story ;)

Priority mail in Switzerland: 4 days! Unbeatable!

And into this lovely package was something only a wonderful Mom could slip: my favorite caramels!!!!
