All Hokies

I first woud like to thank the few friends who sent me an email asking if I was fine. I'm at GT, not VT so yes I'm fine, though really affected by the events. I'm realizing that it could have been any of us. You wake up, go to class and never come back home. How can events like these happen on a campus? How can one person break so many lives and families?
I'm also pretty sick with the way the media are covering this tragedy. Could we leave the monster's childhood/behavior to the psychiatrists for a sec? Also do we really need to know where his parents are living and what their house looks like??? Do we really need to see his face everywhere??? The media are giving this guy exactely what he wanted: worlwide coverage and fame. It's not by playing his video or broadcasting his rants that we will prevent copycats. I don't really want to see another twisted mind taking classmates' life so that the rest of the world can hear what he has to say.
I don't know how we can prevent this violence from happening. I don't even know if this is really possible. You cannot suspect every single classmate just because he seems lonely or angry. Otherwise you would put all the engineering students on the Watch list. It's school, it's grad school. We have bad days, we're going home sad, frustrated and depressed sometimes. It's part of the experience, it's part of life.
Just remember the ones would lost their life and keep their families in your thoughts.
